Ballet and Orchestra of Saint Petersburg

The company was founded in 2011 by Maxim Zhuchin with the great influence of the famous choreographer Nikolai Boyarchikov, who was the artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg for many years. The company currently has a cast of young and ambitious talented dancers. The repertoire includes classic ballets like The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Chopiniana and The Sleeping Beauty, which was programmed in our centre in Terrassa last season.

The company is currently presenting contemporary plays too, with young choreographers like Konstantin Kiekhel, awarded in many international dance festivals. The company is now working in the production of the ballet Cinderella.

Giselle

Set in a peasant environment in Germany in medieval times, the story of Giselle is inspired by De l'Allemagne, written by Heinrich Heine in 1835.

Premiered in 1841 at the Paris Opera, it is an absolute masterpiece of romantic ballet and it is considered an essential work of classical dance both in the treatment of romantic ideals and in the use of the most sophisticated theatrical technique of the 19th century.
