Laia De La Torre
Pianist

Laia began her piano studies at an early age, and eventually graduated from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona, where she studied piano under Àlex Alguacil and chamber music with Emili Brugalla. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with world-renowned pianists and musicians, including Ya-Fei Chuang, Adrian Brendel, Ian Jones, Danny Driver, Péter Nagy, Salvador Brotons, Vasco Dantas, Congyu Wang and Yejin Gil, among others. Simultaneously to her music undergraduate studies, she also pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and later completed a Master’s in Genetics and Genomics at the University of Barcelona.
All of this has led Laia to perform on many emblematic stages, both as a soloist and as a chamber pianist: the Teatro das Figuras (Faro), Auditori del Tívoli (el Vendrell), Jardí dels Tarongers (Barcelona), Sala Parés (Barcelona), Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona and Nathan Milstein Hall (Stockholm) among others. In 2024, she debuted with the Orquestra do Algarve with Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E minor, under the baton of Joshua dos Santos.
She has learnt the craft of musical improvisation from renowned pianists such as Carles Marigó, Emilio Molina and Juan Maria Cisneros, and the craft of dance accompaniment through Kim Helweg, Mariana Palacios, Alberto de Paz and Juanjo Ochoa. Laia has been trained for the accompaniment of classic, contemporary and spanish dance technique classes and she currently plays at PAR in dance and in IEA Oriol Martorell.
From a young age, Laia has been passionate about composition, with several of her works being awarded and premiered in cities like Brussels and Lisbon. Additionally, she has contributed to the soundtracks of various short films.
