The Sylphides
PAR stages for the first time Les Sylphides, which was premiered in 1908 at the Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg under the title Romantic dream with music by Chopin or Chopiniana. The ballet was presented for the first time with the name of Les Sylphides on June 2nd, 1909 at the Théâtre du Chátelet in Paris performed by Sergei Diaguilev’s Ballets Russes.
Often described as a ‘romantic dream’, it was the first ballet without a plot; the plot idea consists only of many sylphs dancing in a forest during a moonlight with the presence of a poet. Fokin used an academic technique evolved by the time, since he created an abstract piece with the structure of the romantic ballet, surely inspired by Bouronville’s Le Sílfide.

Triumph of Aphrodite
Triumph of Aphrodite is a neoclassical piece that revolves around a marriage ceremony. Rodolfo Castellanos has created a collective choreography that culminates with the union of the couple with Carl Orff’s music.
The costumes are inspired by Roman costumes and one of them wears a belt that identifies him as an official of the wedding ceremony. This mythological interpretation of the goddess of love and beauty represents an important challenge for PAR dancers’, who have shown great dedication to the new production.
