Ilya Jivoy

Regular master, dancer and choreographer

Born in 1989, Ilya is an award winning freelance Choreographer, Dancer and Director. He quickly became resident choreographer at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and awarded with the “Hope of Russia” as of the best young choreographers in his country. His performance in the world of dance has taken him to many different stages: UK, Germany, Switzerland, Georgia, USA and, of course, Russia.

He arrives at PAR en Dansa to perform his own choreography: The Four Seasons. A creation that organically combines classical and contemporary technique in what is a modern and up-to-date approach to dance.

Ilya Jivoy has extensive experience in ‘new choreography’: he has appeared in productions by William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj, Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, Dwight Roden, Hans van Manen and Alexei Ratmansky. Since 2013, when he ventured into choreographing his first work, Ilya Jivoy has staged four one-act ballets as part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s Young Choreographers’ Creative Workshop. She also participated in The Dreamers, a project by Sergei Danilyan, in 2017. The ballet Four Seasons (2017) is his first production to be included in the repertoire of the Mariinsky Theatre.

In July, he will premiere in California “The Chairman Dances” by John Adams and “La Campanella” by Franz Liszt while in August he will be in Switzerland presenting his new piece “No words” with music by Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm.
