Michele Merola

Michele Merola graduated in the Associazione Balletto Classico directed by Liliana Cosi and Marinel Steganescu. After getting his degree, he danced with companies as Aterballeto, Toulon Opera House or Arena di Verona Company. Currently is the artistic director and the coreographic chief of MM Contemporary Dance Company, founded in 1999 in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He has created lots of coreographies for this company and he has won a lot of awards for them such as the Best Coreography Award of Serbia in 2017. Some of this coreographies are: Mattanza, La Capinera, La metà dell’ombra, Con le labbra dipinte, Bolero, Pulcinella, Gershwin Suite, Vivaldi Umane Passioni or Pastorale.
Moreover, he has done some many works for other companies national and international as Aterballeto, Teatro San Carlo, Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre, Teatro Massimo or Teatro Terazijama, among others. Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli are, since 2010, the artistic directors of Agora Coaching Projecto – Reggio Emilia, an advanced training programme for dancers.
MM Contemporary Dance Company won the Danza&Danza award for the best raising company. In 2016 Michele won the award as best italian coreographer in GD Awards.
